Default Bonuses post ascension: nobody does them.

After ascension, since everyone usually reaches 20 by then, it seems that NOBODY wants to do the bonuses.

It is really annoying because I want to get the ring of fire islands' bonuses for my warrior.

I have them on my necro, but I did them over the summer on him. Even on my necro it took AGES to get groups for those 3 bonuses. Same for iron mines of Moladune. Nobody wants to do it.

Yeah I know, took me forever to finish the 3 bonuses in South Shiverpeak and the 3 in Ring of Fire. Trying to find a group to do them took just as much time as finishing the bonus itself. But I was able to find groups for them eventually.

I've done all the bonus in the game except for Dunes of Despair. Can't find a group good enough to finish that one and it's driving me nuts hehe.

I do them for the sake of completion. Post-Ascension bonuses are rather easy (and soloable for the most part); Maguuma and Desert bonuses are much harder IMO.

Use henchies if you can't get people to join your party to complete them.

The thing is quite tricky : let me take the example of Moladune since you mentionned it.

Bonuses in the early stages of the games are most usually done (say the missions in post searing Ascalon). Why ? They bring 1000 XP for a short amount of time spent (Surmia needs following some Charrs and killing 8 of them ; Nolani needs only to recover a book ; Ranik needs only killing less than 10 charrs ... and so on).

But later on, from Frost Gate, bonuses needs a little more tactics (don't talk to the dwarf giving the bonus mission in Frost Gate one or bonus is almost lost, know where the chosen ones, protect someone, and so on) and 1000 xp is not that much anymore. So why spend time over something you don't really need ?

If we speak about Moladune it's even worse : the bonus is almost as long as the mission. Moreover, you have to fight your way through Mursaats, which means you have to be infuse to have a chance of success. And infusing comes just near the end of the mission, so ppl often don't want to jeopardize the mission to do the bonus : in Moladune characters are lvl 20, so why bother for extra 1000 XP ?
Someone said : take henchmen. Henchmen have their armor infused only AFTER Moladune mission, so this means that their life expectancy in Moladune mission is reduced to nothing... There are not so many players willing to spend time just to have the second sword across the shield these days ...

Moladune bonus should be doable now with henchies, if the update is correct. Henchies should get infused by the seer now. Ice Caves of Sorrows prolly isn't w/ henchies, unless the player has been infused, and can ~solo 3 jade armors, and couple of Mursaat Elementalists [atleast the Jades and Mursaat come in different groups].

What it comes to other bonuses, I hop around mission to mission, lurk a while seeing if there's a bonus group forming... Got few bonuses that way.

i also need those 3 bonuses on my MM for another 100% complete char.so if you ever manage to get a group pm me (ign elvira lived stick on friends incase i'm on another char).

as for dunes bonus,as repoted in a recent thread,i did it with hench a couple of days ago and again last night with a pug while helping a friend.most ppl trying for the bonus come against the same problem, that being the time expiring while almost killing the last enemy,so as i have seen twice now you need a good dmg group who can listen to you.and some that have a dmg skill that will carry on while the char is in the cutscene incase you meet the usual problem (ie on my hench run my minions finished the last guy during the cs with the pug the elems both set shower off just before the cs and that did the trick.

also a little tactic for extra time in the ruins is to move to the enemys.after the 4 pairs of forgotten are down run up and take out the 2 enchants then down and left for 2 more then a boss and 2 more then run up again.be careful going out incase of scarabs then take first group then into the ruins for the last 2.if 1 of the last 2 bosses is the monk take that group first and know that you have to kill the boses bodygaurds aswell for the bonus.

and as ever good luck to all.

almost forgot,to the "why bother" ppl.some of us diehard gamers relish the satisfaction of getting that 100% complete status even if we can't prove it we know it's done.but a more sensible answer is why buy a game and play only some of it and not everything you have payed for.some games have flashy extras for 100% this 1 just has the thrill of accomplishing the ultimate goal in any game "full completion".

If I said 'why bother' it was not to say my opinion, but to relay what I suppose most ppl think. I also try to have all the bonuses

Basically, to form a bonus group you have to promise about half of the members that you'll finish the mission with them as well. You'll probably get 3-4 other guys in your predicament, and they normally have finished the mission multiple times and are enough to carry the team.

The bonuses arn't that bad you only need one or two people and fill it out with henches. My advice is to advertise as a capping plus bonus grp. Kill everything on the islands while capping elites and then do the bonuses as convient.

I guess the only other reson to do the bonus is for the skill points if you can get it.

Why do bonuses? To feel you completed something? Or is it to get the tasty 1k experience points?

If it's just for the experience then you should just stick with farming trolls.

I did it last week with a lvl 13 ranger with henchmen, barely anyone of them died.. I was using poison arrow and 2 interrupt skills, those interrupt did the trick, so I wasnt completely useless .
Also capped Oath shot and Barrage there in that mission, having 3 elites in the end
One thing u might want to take, lvl 20 or lvl 5, is a snare, since the bonus boss can run pretty fast sometimes.

I don't farm. I find farming to be boring (and too commonplace). Most people use the same damn builds too.

Besides, my goal is not to be the richest player. I get by fine with collector's weapons. I just want more versatile characters (as in can change to all secondaries that I need/want).

Bonus do. Do not mix skill points and AP, skill points are used to buy capture sig or skills, which is always useful to buy skills of several secondary professions so that you can play various kind of builds. Too few ppl stick to one unique build instead of changing their build depending on the place you're in (ever tried to fight Mursaats and Hydras with a MM ??)

I believe Star Gazer is correct on this. Completing the primary mission gives 1000Xp and 1 skill point. The reward for completing the bonus is only 1000Xp.

Ya I need bonuses too. Someone should just make a thread that gets people together to do the bonuses. and have the time and date to meet up.
